Bio
The Associated Press is one of the most successful cooperatives in American history, born in 1846 to share news from the war in Mexico with a small group of New York publishers. The cooperative quickly grew to become a leading supplier to U.S. newspapers and then diversified across the media spectrum while remaining a not-for-profit business.
Jim Kennedy is the senior vice president for strategy and corporate development at Associated Press. He has been leading strategic planning for the world’s largest news agency since 2001. Previously, he served as business news editor for AP (1988-95) and was the founding director of AP’s multimedia news department in 1996.
