Teresa will address the recent legal action against Uber South Africa to argue for employee status for drivers. The action was brought about when 7 drivers went to the Council for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) to file for unfair dismissal. Teresa will emphasize the role of National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers (NUPSAW), as well as reporting on the idea of forming a worker- owned co-op.
Teresa Munchick is a Johannesburg-based co-founder of The Movement, an advocacy organization that champions the rights and safety of UBER drivers in South Africa.
