In most countries citizens are far from the control of public resources (such as water and sovereign funds). Centralized control produces small ruling elites. One challenge for designing digital government is incorporating decentralization, which blockchain and other new technologies allows.

Yaso Córdova is an activist, researcher and developer. She is an affiliate at Berkman Klein Center, a fellow at Digital Harvard Kennedy School and CTS-FGV, where she works on technologies to bootstrap democracy. She used to work for the W3C as Web Specialist and was a consultant to the UN. She also drives the Serenata de Amor Operation project.
