Bio

Bastien has had three main dimensions to his work since 1999: A political dimension, through his commitment to digital forms of common goods and, especially, free software. This commitment has led him to be Secretary General of the International Free Software Association and to take public positions (National Assembly, Senate, Economic and Social Council, media, etc.) on the political issues related to digital monopolies. An entrepreneurial dimension, through the creation and management of several social enterprises: TALCOD, the digital agency of the general interest; the POP Group; and Mobicoop cooperative, the main cooperative carpooling platform in Europe, where he served as President. Additionally, he is currently the Secrétaire général de Coop FR and the initiator of the operation Milliard. Finally, an academic dimension, through the completion of a PhD in the Canada Research Chair in Governance and his teachings at York University (Toronto). Bastien graduated from Sciences Po Paris. He holds a Master’s degree in philosophy from the Sorbonne and a PhD from the Université de Montréal.
