Bio
Born in Tamaulipas in 1990, Mariela studied International Affairs at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, Mexico. She participated in investigation projects about gender quotas in politics throughout Latin America.
In 2011, she became as a youth volunteer for Techo to fight extreme poverty in Latin America, by constructing transitional housing and implementing social inclusion programs. In 2013, she was hired as Local Director for the volunteer team in Monterrey which, under her leadership, became one of the most recognized volunteer teams in the city. Since 2017, she participated in Techo’s national fundraising team. Mariela strongly believes that decisions made by a collective, however small they may seem, are those that can change the world.
