CONCURRENT COMMUNITY LABS
Starting with this session, we are branching out across multiple venues. Community Labs span all three days. On the first day, presentations ignite discussions on issues and challenges. On the second day, a summary of the issues is presented back to collectively chart a roadmap for changes to policy and practice. On the third day, one facilitator from each lab presents a report on the debated actions, shaping A Shared Digital Agenda for Africa.
Community Lab 3
Co-op Data
This Lab combines cooperative models with digital technology to consider data cooperatives that promote shared ownership and democratic governance. Data cooperatives have the potential to transform the digital economy by enabling equitable data sharing and enhancing data sovereignty. They foster collaboration among small businesses and communities, offering a decentralized alternative to the concentration of digital power in large corporations.
The session is facilitated by Morshed Mannan (Robert Schuman Centre, European University Institute), and Ranjitha Kumar (Aapthi Institute). Contributors include Beatrice Mbinya, Andrea Peña Calvin, and Erik Forman.
