Bio
Leonardo Foletto is a journalist, researcher, and professor. Having completed a Masters in Journalism (UFSC) and a Ph.D. in Communication (UFRGS), he has been working with communication and digital culture since 2008 on projects in Brazil and Ibero-America. He was a visiting professor at PUCSP, PUCRS, Unisinos, UCS (RS), and Unochapecó (SC). Since 2008, he has maintained BaixaCultura, an online laboratory for free culture and digital (counter)culture. He is currently a researcher and professor at the School of Communication, Media and Information (ECMI) at FGV (ecmi.fgv.br), a member of the Tierra Común network and a member of the Brazilian chapter of Creative Commons. An activist and researcher of culture and free knowledge, his latest book is “The Culture is Free: a history of anti-property resistance” (Autonomia Literária/Fundação Rosa Luxemburgo), published in 2021 and in Spanish translation.
