Tim Christiaens, assistant professor of economic ethics at the Department of Philosophy of Tilburg University (Netherlands), explores the intersection of political philosophy and work-related themes like algorithmic management, workplace democracy, and labor precarity. He has recently written a book on the digital gig economy called Digital Working Lives (2022) and his research is published in journals like Big Data & Society, European Journal of Social Theory, and Critical Policy Studies. Tim serves as associate editor for the Journal of Ethics and advisory board member for Distinktion: Journal of Social Theory. He is also involved in public debates about the digitalization of work with, among others, a non-academic book (in Dutch) about De kluseconomie (2023) and columns for the Belgian social-democratic journal SamPol.
